Phylis Mourning

Phylis
Phylis has spent her life raising her family and volunteering for many organizations related to family activities. When her three daughters entered college, she re-entered the workforce and spent eight years working for her church, doing many projects including leading women's ministries, small group ministries and ushers and greeters. After her daughters left home, Phylis decided to return to her first love--horses. While getting in touch with people in the horse community, she discovered TROT and instantly fell in love with the kids and the volunteers. Phylis served as the volunteer coordinator from 2008 - September 2009.  She is currently working towards her NARHA riding instructor certification and continues to serve on the board.  She recently coordinated the first annual TROT Open House which was a big success.

"Working with TROT is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done." --Phylis Mourning

One of the best gifts she ever received from her husband was an introduction to Therapeutic Riding for those with challenges.

Renita became a TROT volunteer shortly after moving to the Midlothian area in 2006.  She served as the  Rider Coordinator in 2008 and 2009. "When you are working with the TROT riders and their horses, there are no worries, nothing else matters.... it's all about the kids."
